Silver is known for his smooth Patois-influenced
Dance-hall crooning, and most especially for his hit singles “One in A
Million”, “Say Yeah”.
But,
he wasn’t always a party starter, Silver was born Chika Emenike
Kalagbor on 28th February, 1995. Hailing from Ikwere, Rivers State, he
was born and raised in the Garden City, Port Harcourt; attending his primary
education before moving to Calabar to further his studies in the University of
Calabar, Calabar where he found his true calling to be music amidst his
academics in the department of animal Science.
So,
from the city who brought us such massive successes as Timaya, Burna Boy
and Duncan Mighty, let me introduce you to the christened Port
Harcourt’s Next Son… Silver.
Silver‘s father, was a Club DJ in the UK so it’s no
surprise what his early influences to music were or the type of music
frequently played in the Kalagbor’s residence.
His
musical profile wont be complete if we fail to mention his production skills as
he has produced for some of the big hits
in the Nigeria Music Scene. A rare prolific Musical Taliban.
Silver officially broke into the music industry in October 2014
when he released his first official single “Say Yeah’ produced my Masterkraft,
and has since been bringing in the hits bumping speakers all over Port Harcourt
& Calabar. But, It wasn’t until Jan 2015, when he made a cross-over to the
Lagos music scene with his mid-tempo Summer Jam, “One in a million” that
the budding star got the media sphere in a serious buzz.
Silver is a splendid vocalist and he oozes versatility as his
unique sound blends Dance-hall, Afrobeat, R&B and Hip-Hop into one tightly
knit package. His songs span from ballads full of depth, sometimes to
controversial subject matter as well as, as his Dance-hall tendency implies,
songs that are just meant to get you in the mood for the groove.
Affiliated
to Jude Okoye’s Northside inc, and more, A peek into his unreleased Catalogue
reveals his teaming up with their
in-house Female Patua King, the acclaimed Cynthia Morgan; in the REMIX
version of his Hit Single ‘Say Yeah’.
While
“Say Yeah & One in a Million” showed a more mainstream quality to
his music as he experimented with Reggae, some Afro Pop and more of
his prevalent Dance-hall influenced sound.
Having
created such a buzz in the industry, Silver is set to headline his own Industry
Nite this year, and has performed in a large catalogue of massive concerts,
from – Star Trek, the New Edition concert in Enugu & Calabar; CarniRiv
and Calabar Carnival, to – his own Beat Bounce Show in Calabar.
Currently
he’s still working on two single Tracks “Alhaja & Bend Down Select.”
But, for now, his singles “Say Yeah”, and “One in a Million” are
on constant rotation, #occupying the airwaves.
